The Atlanta Humane Society is seeking someone to fill the role of:
Adoption Counselor – Mansell Campus
Duties/Responsibilities
Provides assistance to potential adopters visiting the shelter. Provides support by counseling, staffing pet supply area and facilitating visitation between customers and animals. Provides quality animal and people care in accordance with the AHS mission, goals and management philosophy. Provides written training and basic medical information to the adopters and offers information on breeds, etc. to help potential adopters make good choices. Informs adopters of free veterinarian exam, post adoption medical assistance, return policy, pet health insurance and surgical information. Solicits for donations and suggestively sells pet supplies. Receives payments from patrons and provides receipts for purchases and adoptions. Balances cash drawers, when required, and submits monies and reports to Accounting Office.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Six months previous customer service experience in an office or retail business setting
- Computer literate in a Windows environment
- Ability to utilize effective problem solving/decision making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Desire to work with animals and people
- General knowledge of animal welfare preferred
- Will be asked to assist in other areas as needed
- Six months experience in animal welfare or related field

Animal Care Manager – Howell Mill Campus
Applicants must be customer service oriented, organized, outgoing, motivated, and extremely reliable. Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years of management experience, and experience in an animal-shelter capacity is a plus, but not required. Person will be in charge of managing a team of approximately 10 people, as well as operations of the kennel and adoption facility.

Director of Development – Mansell Campus
Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for organization’s fundraising, annual giving and capital development campaigns. Maintains contacts with individuals/corporations that support the organization. Develop fundraising strategies and campaigns to support the programs of the organization. Identify, define and acquire funding resources available to the organization. Design, implement and/or maintain a structured fund-raising program as an aspect of the organization’s overall program. Work collaboratively with staff members to identify avenues of economic support for programs/projects. Aggressively seek new corporate/foundation funding sources and maintain relationships with current and past donors. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing emphasis or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 3 years related experience
- Budget development and management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of animal welfare issues
- Excellent organizational planning and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-reliant, highly motivated, and positive attitude
- Methodical and detail-oriented
- Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license in good standing or have the ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends as necessary

Manager of Community Relations – Mansell Campus
Duties/Responsibilities
Manage the overall development, coordination and execution of all community development activities and special events. Assist in garnering public support and funding for the Society’s programs and services. Oversee volunteer program, including volunteer training. Coordinate with supervisory and administrative staff to provide planning, administration and delivery of services by volunteers. Develop, coordinate and oversee special events, special promotions and exhibits; responsible for production of materials and collaterals promoting events. Facilitate media relations and provide news releases, PSA’s, community bulletins, etcetera. Develop, execute and oversee Community Service Program. Develop, execute and oversee Pet Facilitated Therapy Program; recruit and identify volunteer foster providers.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of animal welfare issues
- Excellent organizational planning and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
- Self-reliant, highly motivated, and positive attitude
- Methodical and detail-oriented

Receptionist (2 Part Time Openings) – Howell Mill Campus
Responsible for professionally answering all incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate department/staff, returning voicemail. Provide caller with information such as company address, directions, fax number, website. Return voicemails as required. Other clerical duties as assigned.
