Hours and Days of operation: Adoptions is open 7 days a week!
Monday-Friday, 11 am - 7 pm
Saturday - Sunday, 10 am - 6 pm
Adoption selection must be made by one half-hour prior to closing.
The Atlanta Humane Society business office is open from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, and closed on Saturday and Sunday.
The Animal Admissions Center is open to receive animals from 9am to 3:30pm Monday through Sunday. If you are bringing in an animal, we encourage you to arrive by 2pm, so that it may be processed that same day. There is a $40 fee for dropping off an animal at the Shelter, and since we do not euthanize animals for space, space is limited. Call the Incoming Department at 404.974.2801 before you come to see if we have space to receive your animal.
NOTE: Fulton County law states that all stray animals found in Fulton County. MUST be taken to Fulton County Animal Services, 860 Marietta Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30318. We cannot accept stray animals found in Fulton County. The Fulton County Animal Control phone number is 404.613.0358.
The Veterinary Clinic is located just behind the Animal Receiving Center. The entrance is on Edgehill Ave. The veterinary clinic is open for business Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and closed Saturday and Sunday. The clinic operates by appointment only. Please call 404.875.6420 to make an appointment.
From the North
From Marietta (I-75):
South on 75 to exit 252 (Howell Mill Rd.) Turn right and go 1.7 miles. Look for the Atlanta Humane Society sign on the left at Edgehill Ave. Turn left.
From Roswell/Alpharetta (GA 400):
GA 400 south will merge with I-85. Take I-85 south to exit 84 (10th-17th streets). Stay left and exit on 14th street. Turn right. Go about a mile; 14th street will dead-end onto Howell Mill Rd. Turn left on Howell Mill, then left on Edgehill when you see our sign.
From Chamblee/Norcross (I-85):
Take 85 south to exit 84 (10th-17th streets). Stay left and exit on 14th street. Turn right. Go about a mile; 14th street will dead-end onto Howell Mill Rd. Turn left on Howell Mill, then left on Edgehill when you see our sign.
From the East
From Conyers/East Atlanta (I-20):
Go west on 20 to I-75/85, and go north to exit 250 (10th/14th/ Techwood). Turn left at the first light (10th street). Take 10th street approx. 1 mile to Howell Mill Rd. and turn right. The Shelter will be on your right. Turn right at first street (Edgehill Ave.)
From the West
From West End/Douglasville (I-20):
Take 20 east to I-75/85, and go north to exit 250 (10th/14th/ Techwood). Turn left at the first light (10th street). Take 10th street approx. 1 mile to Howell Mill Rd. and turn right. The Shelter will be on your right. Turn right at first street (Edgehill Ave.)
From the South
From south of the city (I-75/85):
