1873 Society Club

In October 2009, the Atlanta Humane Society Board of Directors created a junior board, the 1873 Society Club, comprised of young professionals and philanthropists devoted to raising awareness and funds to support the mission of the Atlanta Humane Society. The Atlanta Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Inc. was founded in 1873 and is the city's oldest, private, not-for-profit animal welfare organization. The 1873 Society Club is hosting The Humane Event as its inaugural signature fundraiser and will dedicate all funds raised in 2010 and 2011 to tending to the medical & emotional needs of dogs rescued from fighting rings.
