While the needs of the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) are great, the 1873 Society Club has chosen to dedicate all funds raised in 2010 to a new initiative the Society is undertaking. Working with a private agency and law enforcement, the Atlanta Humane Society is rescuing dogs, mostly pit bulls, from dog fighting rings. While they've dedicated a secure space to house these animals, the AHS needs our help tending to the emotional and medical needs of these dogs.
Founded in 1873, the Atlanta Humane Society is the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta and its mission is to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty, and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively, and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.
