Low-Cost Mobile Spay/Neuter Services:
Surgical Utility Vehicle (SUV) Program
|
|
As part of our ongoing effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals born in the state of Georgia each year, the Atlanta Humane Society provides low-cost spay/neuter services for cats and dogs on its state-of-the-art mobile Surgical Utility Vehicle (SUV). The SUV program is an extension of our outreach initiative, designed to provide spay/neuter services for individuals who are unable to access our wellness hospital located here at the shelter.
How can I have a pet altered through the SUV program?
The SUV makes rounds to various locations outside the metro Atlanta area throughout the year providing low-cost spay/neuter services. Surgeries are scheduled by appointment only; walk-ins will not be accommodated. Scheduling is currently being conducted through local ambassadors. For more information on the SUV program, please contact your local ambassador, or leave a detailed message on the Atlanta Humane Society’s SUV voicemail system at 404.974.2885. Messages left on the system will be returned within 48 hours (Tues-Sat) between the hours of 8-10am and 2-4pm. Please do not leave more than one message. How much does it cost to have a pet altered?
The cost to have a dog or cat spayed or neutered on the SUV is $20 (CASH ONLY), and includes a complimentary rabies vaccination and microchip if needed. All payments are final: refunds will not be provided.
Is my pet eligible to be spayed/neutered through the SUV program?
Because the SUV program offers a high-volume spay/neuter environment and spacing is limited, the following are NOT ELIGIBLE for spay/neuter services through the SUV program:
- pregnant/in heat/lactating
- crypt orchid (undescended testicles)
- trapped/feral/aggressive
- in poor general health/has pre-existing conditions
- weighs more that 65 pounds
