Tips for Teaching Your Cat Tricks
Cats often need more motivation than dogs do when it comes to learning tricks. With many dogs, verbal praise and petting may be enough to get them to do things for you, but cats can be finicky, so you have to make doing tricks "worth their while."
The easiest way is with food. Try using regular cat treats like Pounce or Whisker Lickins first. If you cat doesn't seem interested, you might have to come up with something more tasty!
Wait until your cat is hungry, and try just a few repetitions of a trick at a time. Always quit before your cat loses interest, and always follow up the trick practice with a fun game of "chase the toy I'm dragging" or something similar.
Don't forget to praise your cat as you treat! Have fun!
Did you know? Tricks are not only fun for your pet, but they help keep them happy and well-adjusted, and more focused on you!
