Behavior Counseling

The number of animals that are released to the Shelter each year because of behavioral problems is a staggering one, but many of these problems can be prevented and/or cured. The AHS Training & Behavior Department is committed to reducing the number of relinquished pets by offering behavioral support to animal owners through phone consultation, email, and our SmartHeart brochure series, as well as basic obedience training. We stress the importance of proper research before the acquisition of any new pet, but should behavior issues arise, please contact the Behavior Department at 404.974.2899, or email us at training@atlantahumane.org.

Private Behavior Consultations/Training

The AHS offers private, one-on-one instruction for puppies and dogs at the shelter. These may be a better option for dog owners with varying schedules, or dogs that would not do well in classes. Private lessons are offered Monday - Friday during regular business hours by appointment only. Please call 404.974.2899, or email us at training@atlantahumane.org to schedule, and inquire about fees.

Remember, behavior assistance by phone or email is always free of charge (though donations are gladly accepted)! We want to help you solve your pet's behavior problem.
