Animal Receiving

georgia petsThere is a $40 surrender fee for bringing an animal to the Shelter. This fee helps offset the enormous cost of feeding, housing, and veterinary services we will provide to make your surrendered pet ready for adoption. You will be asked to present your valid Driver's License or State ID to release an animal. Please contact the Animal Receiving Center to make sure we are able to accept your animal. Please call 404.974.2800. We make no guarantee of being able to accept any animal.

Admission Policy

Admission of any animal into the Atlanta Humane Society is based on the animal’s health, behavior, and adoptability. Animals are admitted when space is available and an intake fee is paid. Animal admission is at the sole discretion of Atlanta Humane Society management.

Return Policy

Animals adopted from Atlanta Humane Society will be admitted under any circumstances, one year from date of adoption, and provided the intake fee is paid. After one year, the Atlanta Humane Society admission policy will apply.
