Extern Program
The Externship
Our interest and support of education and training extends to the veterinary field. Our Clinic offers an outstanding opportunity for third and fourth year veterinary students to explore hands-on practical experience in the world of veterinary medicine. The nature of our operation offers a unique experience of veterinary medicine not found in conventional practice. Students are encouraged to schedule a four or six week term during which they have the opportunity to gain surgical experience, complete "rounds" evaluating Shelter animals, and be a part of the daily operations of our clinic. Students are provided an apartment and small stipend and are exposed to a wide variety of educational experiences.
Housing
On-site housing for the extern program is provided including:
- a furnished apartment located inside the clinic facility
- full kitchen with microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, cooking utensils and dishes
- private full bath
- television with cable
- air conditioning
- complimentary laundry facility
- secure fenced parking
Location
The Atlanta Humane Society is located ten minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, Georgia off I-75 and I-85 at the corner of 10th Street and Howell Mill Road. Convenient to a grocery store, drug stores, and a variety of restaurants.
