Atlanta Humane Society offers a $2,500 reward for case of two family dogs poisoned in Cherokee County

ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for poisoning a 5 year old Beagle and 1 year old Boxer mix belonging to the Barone Family of Cherokee County on February 21, 2011.

Investigators from the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office are trying to find out who poisoned the family pets with antifreeze. When discovered, the older dog was unconscious, hardly breathing and was cold to the touch. The two dogs were in so much pain they had to be euthanized.

The news was heartbreaking for the Barone family, whose 8 year old daughter is described as “devastated” and “can’t stop crying.”  Barone says a neighbor had complained about the dogs in the past, but so far, no one has been arrested.

Atlanta Humane Society reward fund is furnished by the Holland M. Ware Charitable Trust for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for animal cruelty. If you have a tip related to this case, please call Dwayne Casteel with the Cherokee County Marshal’s Office at 678.493.6205.
