Atlanta Humane Society, Park Tavern and SweetWater Brewery Team Up To Raise Pet Adoption Numbers
ATLANTA (August 4, 2010) – Three of Atlanta's most recognizable names are joining forces for Pets in the Park, an effort to match homeless pets with loving, new families. Every Saturday from August 14 – September 11, Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) will set up their mobile adoption bus at Park Tavern, on the corner of Piedmont Park. Every person that visits the mobile bus and spends time with an animal of their choice will receive two free tour passes to SweetWater Brewery, which may be used on any Saturday tour. They do not have to adopt to earn the passes.
The mobile adoption bus will carry plenty of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens who are looking for their new homes. This event will also help AHS during the ASPCA $100K Challenge, a unique competition aimed at raising adoption numbers across the country. The challenge is to adopt out more pets this year in the months of August, September and October than during those same months in 2009. AHS is one of 50 shelters competing for the grand prize : a $100,000 grant. Those who adopt at Pets in the Park will receive a special adopter's goody bag, in addition to their new family member! Those who attend the Pets in the Park event are also encouraged to check out Piedmont Park's newly renovated off-leash dog park, as well as the Park's weekly Green Market.
"We are thrilled to partner with our neighbors at Park Tavern and SweetWater Brewery," said Karla Dempsey, Atlanta Humane Society's, Special Events Manager. "We've all come together for one common goal: to help homeless pets find their new forever families. With the ASPCA $100K Challenge underway, we're looking for new opportunities to find homes for our deserving Society pets. Park Tavern offers the perfect setting and SweetWater Brewery offers an enticing reward, ensuring that these events will be successful."
