Atlanta Humane Society Receive Grant From The Home Depot Foundation
Atlanta (November 9, 2010) – Through its fifth annual Building Community Day program, The Home Depot Foundation has awarded $20,000 to Atlanta Humane Society, (AHS). The donation will be used to cover operating costs of our mobile spay/neuter vehicle, the Humane Emergency Animal Rescue Team Surgical Utility Vehicle (HEART SUV).
“All of us at Atlanta Humane Society are thrilled to receive this support of both collaboration and funding from The Home Depot Foundation” says AHS President Carl Leveridge. “This positive recognition and support will assist us as we expand and enhance our core initiatives and serve the Atlanta community”
Through its Building Community Day program, sponsored in partnership with the Georgia Center fro Nonprofits, The Home Depot Foundation connects with some of Atlanta’s most effective nonprofit organizations, which are focused on building communities through innovative programs and collaborative partnerships that fall outside of the Foundation’s usual areas of giving. This year, 20 nonprofits participated in roundtable discussions and workshops focused on the theme of ‘Nonprofit Governance: Addressing the Disconnect between Theory and Reality.’ Each organization received a $20,000 grant at the end of the day to support their work on a broad range of issues facing the Atlanta community.
“We feel it is especially important to support local nonprofits that share our goal of creating a healthier and more sustainable Atlanta,” said Kelly Caffarelli, President of The Home Depot Foundation. “By creating a partnership with Atlanta Humane Society we believe we have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our hometown.”
