Memorial Day represents one day of national awareness and reverence, honoring those Americans who fight and have died defending our Nation and its values. While we should honor these heroes every day for the profound contribution they have made to securing our Nation's freedom, we should honor them especially on Memorial Day. For all Americans, please observe in your own way at 3pm local time, a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever you are doing for a moment of silence or listening to 'Taps'. |

Grieving for an animal companion?
To help people cope with the death of a pet, the AHS offers Mend-A-Heart group counseling sessions. These hour-long sessions are held at the Howell Mill Campus on the second Saturday of each month at 11am in the Administrative Area.Mend-A-Heart sessions are conducted by a friend of the AHS, Linda Ehlers, who holds a Masters degree in community counseling and education from Georgia State University. Ms. Ehlers is also available for individual counseling (call 404.250.9148). The main objective of the group is to generate mutual support and comfort for each other. 2013 "All Pets Allowed" Calendar - Pet Photo Contest
Submit your entry now!! Deadline is August 31, 2012
You know your pet is a star--now it's time the rest of the world knows it too! Submit your pet's best photo for our 2013 "All Pets Allowed" calendar! The deadline to submit your entry is August 31, 2012. When all entries are received, fourteen animals will be selected as "Pets of the Month": December 2012 – January 2014. One very special animal will be selected to grace the front cover of the calendar! Animals not selected for a month will still have their photo featured in a collage inside the calendar.The entry fee is $35 and includes one free copy of the calendar. Additional calendars are sold for $15 and shipped free, with all proceeds going toward the Atlanta Humane Society's animal welfare programs. You may submit your photo via email or through regular mail. Please carefully read the entry requirements before submitting your pet's photo.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- Photos must be in color and horizontal
- Must be 4" x 6" dimensions
- Must contain animals ONLY
- Digital photos should be shot in "best" or "professional" quality
- Printed digital photos must be printed on quality photo paper
- No Polaroid photos, poor quality photos, or any copyrighted or professional photographs
- Please do not write on the front or back of the photograph
- Photos cannot be returned, and once submitted, become the property of Atlanta Humane Society
Please access the entry form here and make your payment online. After making your payment, you will email your photo to the address given in your payment receipt. Please be sure to include your name, phone number, and the name of your pet.
You may also mail a check and submit your photo via regular mail. Download your entry from here. Checks should be made out to Atlanta Humane Society. Please attach a sticky note to the back of the photo with your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and pet's name. Do NOT write directly on the back of the photo.
