Rufus' Story

adopt a pet in atlantaDear Atlanta Humane Society,

Rufus is the reason why you should adopt an adult dog! Since we adopted him on May 15, 2011 he’s been a joyful addition to our petting zoo that also includes two senior cats. Rufus is four, and we specifically wanted an adult dog because so many of them are great animals that don’t have all the demands of a puppy. He was a bit timid at first (like a lot of rescues), and because of that there wasn’t any “instant connection” when we met him. Still, something inside me told me he was the mutt for us, and it’s been an absolute pleasure watching him break out of his shell and become a happy part of the family. He’s a momma’s boy who thinks “shake” is the greatest
thing in the world, loves to sniff everyone and everything, and has been very easy to train. We even brought him with us on our honeymoon, and he loved the beach and walking on trails. Everyone who meets him remarks at how sweet he is and I can’t think of a more perfect dog for us.

Thanks!
Brian and Carrie
