Echo's Story
Dear Atlanta Humane Society,
My name is Logan and my husband and I have adopted two wonderful dogs from Atlanta Humane. In July of 2009, we came home with Echo (formerly "Huntington"). This hound dog used to be terrified of stairs and for 2 solid months I carried him up 3 flights to my apartment! He's not the same dog now--Echo is crazy happy, and loves to swim more than anything (some dogs will retrieve toys in the water but Echo will literally swim in figure 8s all day). The only thing he was missing was another canine companion, so in August of 2010 we rescued Java, who herself was rescued in a federal raid from a pit-bull ring. We took Echo with us to Atlanta Humane to meet Java, and it was love at first sight! They absolutely adore each other and they're only happy if they're sleeping together at night (on our bed, of course). At first, I was hesitant to adopt a pit bull due to the bad press pit bulls can't escape. But within a week Java stole my heart! When we go for walks, children will ask to pet her and my only warning is that she may lick them to death!
Both Echo and Java were adult dogs when we brought them home; they are perfect examples that full grown dogs, along with not-so-popular breeds, can still make the perfect pet. They are part of our family and we really couldn't imagine life without them. Echo and Java bring so much fulfillment and joy to our lives each and every day, and I can honestly say that each dog was the best $100 we've ever spent.
